Hello Conn Families! My name is Mrs. Amato and I teach Language Arts and Social Studies for the 5th grade Shining Stars team. This is my second year at Conn and my fifth year teaching fifth grade. I was part of the first North Carolina Teaching Fellows program at Campbell University, where I graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a concentration in History. I also studied Spanish and entomology abroad at the Instituto de Cultura y Lengua Costarricanese in Alajuela, Costa Rica. I am originally from Charlotte, North Carolina but loved the Raleigh area during college, so my husband and I chose to stay here after we graduated. When I'm not at school I enjoy reading, hiking, spending time with my family, and watching Carolina Panthers football :) I am so excited to be part of the Conn staff and I am looking forward to a great year in 5th grade!

Hello Conn Families! I am Mrs. Hansen and I am the 5th grade science and math teacher for the Shining Stars Team. This is my seventh year at Conn and my third year in 5th grade. I am currently the grade level chair and had the honor of being Conn's 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year. I have my B.A. in American History and served as curator of the oldest English historical collection in New York prior to moving to Raleigh in 2005. I earned my Masters in Teaching from Meredith College and was lucky enough to complete my student teaching here at Conn in Mrs. Anolick’s third grade classroom. My husband and I reside in Raleigh with our two dogs, Kaiser and Cash, and our cat, Epher. On the weekends I enjoy spending time with my family, shopping, and scrapbooking. I look forward to getting to know each of the 5th graders and their families this year as we work together to help our scholars on all of their learning endeavors.
